On February 2, 2011, Mike Wright and Christian Hines obtained a defense verdict in a Mobile County wrongful death case alleging that a cardiothoracic surgeon negligently cut the subclavian artery during cardiac bypass surgery. The defense argued that the cutting of the subclavian artery was a risk of the procedure; that the surgeon used appropriate due care; and that the injury did not cause the death of the patient.
