Joe Miller and Bennett White obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a defendant gynecologist in a nine day trial in Jefferson County, Alabama. The case involved allegations of negligent administration of anticoagulant medications and negligent failure to consult a hematologist, resulting in death of a hospitalized postoperative patient. The plaintiff put on expert testimony in the specialties of gynecology, hematology and neurology, and also called two treating physicians as witnesses. The defense put on expert testimony in the specialties of hematology and gynecology. The jury returned a defense verdict in favor of the defendant gynecologist.
