Bennett White, Allen King, and Mary Pat Grizzle obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an emergency medicine physician in Walker County. The trial was centered on allegations that the physician failed to diagnose a stroke in a 21-year-old patient who presented to the emergency room with left-sided weakness and numbness. The plaintiff presented expert testimony from an emergency medicine physician and a vascular neurologist who testified on the issues of causation and damages.  The defense presented testimony from the defendant physician, as well as expert testimony that all of the care was reasonable. Additionally, two neurologists testified that the plaintiff would not have benefited from the stroke treatment available in the emergency department.  After seven days of trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our client.
