Scott Salter Speaks on “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare” at the 2026 Medical Professional Liability Claims Defense Forum

June 3, 2026 Scott Salter Speaks on “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare” at the 2026 Medical Professional Liability Claims Defense Forum

On May 13, 2026, Scott Salter presented at the Medical Professional Liability Claims Defense Forum.  Scott spoke on “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: The Evolving Standard of Care, Legal Risks, and the Impact on Litigation.” Scott discussed that as AI is integrated into the healthcare system, it will impact litigation.  Physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers will see theories of liability predicated on the use of AI.  Scott explained how the use of AI will create new legal challenges for these providers and impact medical professional liability litigation.  The program provided an overview of AI’s present use and impact, as well as its potential impact on litigation going forward.  He also discussed how AI vendors may become parties to medical liability litigation, adding a new dynamic to the litigation process that will impact theories of liability and present juries with novel legal theories and issues. Scott has practiced at Starnes for over 30 years and has an active litigation practice devoted to catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation, including medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, and pharmaceutical/medical device litigation.
