After six days of trial, Billy Bates and Todd Huntley obtained a defense verdict in favor of two emergency medicine physicians on January 31, 2011. The case, pending in Jefferson County-Birmingham Division, arose out of allegations by the plaintiff that the defendants failed to diagnose him with a myocardial infarction or impending infarction during their emergency room evaluation. The plaintiff alleged that the defendants failed to treat him accordingly and, further, failed to obtain proper consults. After hearing all the evidence and the closing arguments, the jury returned a verdict for both physicians finding them not liable for any of the injuries complained of.
