MacKenzie and Miller succesfully defend ER doctor.

On August, 27th, 2007, Bob MacKenzie and Joe Miller obtained a defense verdict in a 6 day wrongful death medical malpractice trial in Bessemer. The case involved a 38 year old man who presented to the emergency department, complaining of abdominal pain after a night of heavy drinking. The defendant, emergency physician, treated the patient for gastritis and discharged him from the emergency department. The patient died 18 hours later. The autopsy revealed cause of death as a perforated duodenal ulcer. The allegation was that the emergency physician missed this diagnosis both on clinical and radiographic grounds.
